This is a very easy thing to do, I have not yet experimented with putting them through the washing machine yet but when I do they will most definitely be put on the "delicate" cycle and I will be sure to let you know if the lace stayed on or not!
So here are the steps to personalizing your own pockets whether it be on pants or shorts!
STEP ONE: Find a pair of shorts or pants... Any pair, no really... ANY pair works! I chose a pair of lilac Levi high waisted cut offs. Purple is my favorite color and one of the trends I noticed at Coachella were high waisted cut offs so I had to get them!
STEP TWO: Find any fabric or lace that you would like to glue on your pockets and cut it in the shape of your pocket. Make sure that it is a tad bigger than the actual pocket (just in case), you can cut off the excess later.
STEP THREE: Using tacky glue (this is why I was concerned about washing them), line the pocket with a thin line of glue then press on your piece of lace. I was thinking that using a hot glue gun would work better and be more secure but when I made these shorts at the Coachella art tent, using a hot glue gun was not an option.
STEP FOUR: After the glue has dried, cut off the excess fabric/ lace.
My finished product:
|The circular do-hickeys on my belt loop are pins that I made at the Coachella art tent as well! Notice the lace inside the pocket and the floral fabric lining the pocket.|
|I put lace on the back pocket and lined it with floral print fabric as well!|
